Gutermann have created an elastic thread which is perfect for sewing highly elastic seams and topstitching on sewing jersey & stretch fabrics. It can give up to 80% stretch compared to a standard cotton/poly thread.
Use on a standard sewing machine in both the top and bottom thread with a straight stitch, this negates the need for a zig zag or other stretch stitch which uses more thread and doesnt always look as neat. Maraflex has a high elongation, which is ideal for flexible seams.

Tips for use include setting stitches at approx 4 per 1cm, lowering tensions on the machine, using a stretch needle and I found going slowly worked better. All machines will vary.
